Over the past few years, civil society in Burkina Faso has been increasingly vocal about the need for better social protection and the removal of user fees for the poorest and most vulnerable. In 2015, the Ministry of Health (MoH) created a multi-stakeholder steering committee bringing together civil society health networks, the private sector, and development partners to coordinate the development of a National Health Financing Strategy for UHC. This process aimed to increase population ownership, facilitate the implementation of the Strategy, and ultimately improve equitable access to national health care.
