In September 2019 the United Nations will hold the first-ever United Nations High-Level Meeting (UN HLM) on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) during the UN General Assembly. The United Nations has tasked the International Health Partnership for UHC2030 (UHC2030) with leading preparations for this meeting.  As a result, UHC2030 developed Key Asks from the UHC Movement for the UN High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage that will feed into the UHC Political Declaration.  Complimentary to this process, the CSEM is proud to launch Civil Society Priority Actions for the UN High-Level Meeting on Universal Health Coverage.  The document amplifies the voice of civil society and builds on the framework of the UHC2030 Key Asks, providing advocacy messages civil society can use.  The CSEM developed these priority actions based on feedback provided by over 300 civil society from over 50 countries through face-to-face consultations and a civil society online survey.  To view the online survey results, click here.

For a successful UN HLM, the CSEM depends on the support of its members and partners to advocate at the country level.  Please disseminate this document among your networks and partners. We are calling on all civil society to use these messages alongside their disease-specific messages to ensure that the UN HLM on UHC is a moment where Member States make concrete, measurable commitments to build health systems that leave no one behind.  To read the full Priority Actions document, click here.
