Eliana Monteforte

Director of Special Projects, Global Health Council

Eliana Monteforte is the Director of Special Projects at Global Health Council (GHC). In this role, she leads special projects and partnerships including grant-funded initiatives that engage U.S. grassroots organizations, policymakers and global health networks to ensure minority voices are systematically heard and included in U.S. global health policy development and implementation. Prior to joining GHC, Eliana worked at Management Sciences for Health for over a decade where she provided project management and technical assistance support to various public health institutions and over 40 civil society organizations in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

As a native Spanish speaker and first-generation Mexican American, Eliana worked with six state level health teams in Mexico to develop and launch advocacy plans to support midwifery and improve maternal health care across the country. Many of these advocacy plans resulted in state governments developing training and work placement programs for midwifery graduates, midwifery champion groups and midwifery quality of care centers in remote or hard to reach areas.

Eliana’s other areas of expertise include health planning and budgeting, health finance, cost revenue analysis, and resource mobilization. Eliana was formerly the Coordinator of the CSEM Secretariat and is thrilled to continue to engage in UHC advocacy as a CSEM Advisory Group member.
