Global Medical Director, Pathfinder

Dr. Jimmy Nzau is a physician and global health practitioner with 19 years of experience at global, regional and national levels in both humanitarian and international development. His experience spans social protection, education, though his specialization is RMNCH, family planning, adolescent health and development, comprehensive abortion care, health systems strengthening with extensive work and experience supporting civil society and faith-based organizations to advance policies and legislations for a supportive environment in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Prior to joining Pathfinder as Global Medical Director, Dr Jimmy worked as a senior leader at CARE International, for about ten years and led the implementation of RMNCH/FP and policy-advocacy initiatives in more than 20 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA and Asia. He has also led the development of CARE’s SRHR regional strategies in East, Central and Sub-Saharan Africa, West Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, and Asia.

Dr. Jimmy graduated from the University of Kinshasa, School of Medicine, hold an MPH from Emory University and post-graduate diploma in health promotion from Nancy University in France. Dr Jimmy is fluent in French, English, Lingala, and Kikongo and has lived and worked in DRC, Chad and the US and is currently based in Atlanta/US.     Outside of work, Jimmy is an avid reader, and a soccer fan.
